Job Summary

We are a leading Australian company seeking a qualified and motivated Auto Electrician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical and electronic systems in a variety of vehicles and machinery. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic and a passion for delivering high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose Electrical Faults: Identify and troubleshoot faults in electrical systems using diagnostic tools and techniques.

  • Repair and Maintenance: Repair and replace wiring, alternators, starter motors, batteries, and other electrical components in vehicles and machinery.

  • Installations: Fit and install electrical accessories, including lights, audio systems, GPS units, and two-way radios.

  • Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and downtime.

  • Compliance: Ensure all work complies with Australian safety and roadworthy standards.

  • Upkeep of Tools: Maintain and use diagnostic tools and equipment efficiently and safely.

  • Customer Interaction: Communicate clearly with customers and team members about repairs, timelines, and recommendations.

  • Workshop Organisation: Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe work environment, adhering to workplace health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Trade Certification: Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (or equivalent qualification).

  • Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing electrical systems in light vehicles, heavy vehicles, or machinery.

  • Strong understanding of wiring diagrams, schematics, and diagnostic equipment.

  • Familiarity with modern vehicle systems, including CAN bus and computerised systems.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a dynamic workshop.

  • A valid Australian driver’s licence (manual preferred).

  • Highly Regarded:

    • Experience working with heavy vehicles, mining or agricultural machinery.

    • ARCtick licence for air-conditioning systems.

    • Forklift or other relevant tickets.
